Royal Randwick Racecourse is located on Alison Road, about 5 kms from the Sydney CBD . It is one of the most popular racecourses in Sydney. The course has a reputation for holding major Australian races during the Autumn and Spring Racing Carnivals. It was granted the right to be known as Royal Randwick by Queen Elizabeth in 1992.
The Royal Randwick Racecourse has a circumference of 2,213 metres and the straight is 410 metres long. This large course has sweeping bends and gives all runners a chance at winning.
Besides horseracing events such as the Spring Racing Carnival held in September, Randwick Racecourse has been used as a venue for many other events including concerts, corporate events and religious masses such as World Youth Day.
